Children Help Children

“Children Help Children”——

  1. 先了解——读一读那些需要帮助的孩子的故事,想一想你能为他们做什么;
  2. 去讲述——把“孩子帮助孩子”的理念讲给爸爸妈妈、爷爷奶奶、好朋友听。很多小朋友的第一笔捐款,来自自己的压岁钱和零花钱;

Children Help Children

UN Charity Art Exhibition · A Special Event of the UNWG Holiday Bazaar — Invitation

Dear Huaxia students and parents,

Our children carry their backpacks into bright classrooms every day; after school they spread out their drawing paper and sketch blue skies, oceans, and the beautiful world as they see it — for them, this is just an ordinary day.

But in other corners of the world, some children have never known such an ordinary day. War has taken their homes; poverty keeps them out of classrooms. They have dreams just like our children — only they have not yet had the chance to paint those dreams.

“Children Help Children.” This December, we invite Huaxia’s children to do something real for those children: those who love to draw can bring their artwork to be exhibited at the United Nations; those who don’t draw (yet) can equally become Little Ambassadors of Love and join this campaign with a donation. There is more than one way to help children far away.

In consultation with the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG), our charity art exhibition will be held as a main event of UNWG’s annual Holiday Bazaar on Thursday, December 3, 2026, 11:30 AM–3:30 PM, in the Visitor’s Lobby of the GA Building at UN Headquarters in New York. The UNWG President will attend in person to present awards to participating students.

We especially invite past Huaxia Cup Special Prize and First Prize recipients to apply, with priority consideration given to their artwork. We also warmly welcome other award recipients, previous participants, and young artists who have never entered the Huaxia Cup to submit original artwork reflecting the exhibition’s charitable theme. Together, young artists can turn their creativity into care for other children through “Children Help Children.”

Every stroke a child paints, every bit of love a child donates, could become a book, a lunch, or a chance to walk into a classroom for another child.

★ This is a true story: several years ago, a young girl named Lilit brought her paintings to UNWG’s Bazaar, where they sold out. Ana Soto, UNWG’s in-house artist, believed her work deserved to be seen around the world. On October 18 this year, Lilit’s painting appeared on a billboard at 1560 Broadway — in the heart of Times Square. From the Bazaar to Times Square: UNWG has always helped young artists be seen by the world. The next one could be your child.

For UNWG, this is more than an exhibition — it is about nurturing future artists. Every showing is a positive encouragement for children’s learning and creativity.

1. About the United Nations Women’s Guild

Founded in 1948, the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) is composed mainly of UN diplomats from various countries and their families. Through its annual charity Bazaar and other fundraising events, the Guild supports children in need around the world. Over the years, UNWG’s annual charity sales have funded dozens of children’s charity programs worldwide in education, healthcare, clean water, and nutrition, and have long provided scholarships to underprivileged secondary-school students.

2. Event Highlights

  • Your original artwork, exhibited at UN Headquarters
  • Awards presented by the UNWG President + official certificate
  • Voluntary sale of exhibited works — doubling the love
  • Outstanding works may be licensed as UNWG charity products, sold in the charity shop on an ongoing basis

3. Two Ways to Participate

Both options include a charitable donation; all funds serve the same cause.

Option 1: Exhibit — $300 (includes exhibition service fee and charitable donation)

  • Submit one original artwork reflecting the exhibition’s charitable theme for review. Selected works will be exhibited as originals. Any size is welcome; please consider ease of transport and on-site safety
  • Priority consideration will be given to artwork by past Huaxia Cup Special Prize and First Prize recipients. Other young artists are also welcome to apply. Final selection will be made by the organizing committee based on thematic relevance, artistic quality, and on-site display requirements
  • Receive an official UNWG certificate
  • Invited to the Bazaar awards ceremony
  • Eligible for a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible donation receipt
  • Artwork info card (title, artist, artist’s statement) produced by the organizing committee

Option 2: Donate Without Exhibiting — from $500

  • Receive an official UNWG certificate
  • Invited to the Bazaar awards ceremony
  • Eligible for a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible donation receipt
  • Donations are unlimited — all families are warmly welcome to participate

(Certificate name and final wording subject to UNWG confirmation.)

4. For Kids: Become a Little Ambassador of Love

(Parents: you may read the passage below to your child.)

$500 is a lot of money for a child — but that is exactly what “Children Help Children” means: what matters is not who pays, but who takes action.

Here is how you can become a Little Ambassador of Love:

  1. Learn — read the stories of children in need and think about what you can do for them;
  2. Share — tell your parents, grandparents, and friends about “Children Help Children.” Many children’s first donation comes from their red-envelope money and pocket money;
  3. Act together — complete this donation with your family, so the whole family becomes part of this act of love.

What the United Nations Women’s Guild honors is your heart and your action — you stepped forward and did something for children far away. That is why this certificate bears your name.

5. Voluntary Artwork Sale

  • Exhibited works may be voluntarily priced for on-site sale (not an auction); prices are set by the student’s family
  • Exhibited works may, with the family’s authorization, be turned into charity products by UNWG and sold in the charity shop, with all proceeds donated to UNWG-funded children’s programs — so young artists’ works keep helping children in need
  • We suggest donating around 30% of the sale proceeds to the “Children Help Children” program (entirely voluntary)
  • On-site coordination of transaction records

6. Artwork Submission (choose one)

  • Drop off in advance to a designated location: 110 Fieldcrest Ave, Edison, NJ 08837
  • Bring it to the venue on the event day for on-site setup
  • Please collect your work on-site after the exhibition; for families unable to attend, the organizing committee will transport the works back and notify you of a time and place for unified pickup

Friendly reminder: please pack and transport artworks carefully; do not touch the exhibits during the exhibition.

7. Framing

  • Families are advised to frame the artwork themselves (for better display — and for easier sale)
  • As materials and sizes vary, the committee cannot provide unified framing; please consult the parents’ group for specific requirements
  • Display: on easels

8. Fees and Use of Funds

  • All payments for this event (Exhibit $300; Donate from $500) are collected by Huaxia Chinese School
  • Following international charitable practice, a 10% program administration fee will be retained to cover direct costs such as advance organization, exhibition equipment, and on-site coordination
  • All donations will be transferred to the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG)
  • All remaining funds will go in full to the “Children Help Children” program, helping impoverished children in need around the world
  • A full accounting of income and expenses will be published to all participants after the event

9. Refund Policy

Exhibit ($300)

  • Cancellation requested on or before November 16: full refund
  • Voluntary cancellation on or after November 17, or failure to submit artwork on time: generally non-refundable; special cases may apply for manual review
  • Student unable to attend in person but artwork exhibited as normal: exhibition eligibility retained, no refund; certificate to be collected separately
  • Artwork not accepted or spots full (already paid): full refund
  • Organizer cancels the event or cannot arrange exhibition of a confirmed work: full refund

In some corners of the world, war, poverty, and disaster keep many children from going to school in peace or painting happily as ours do. This time, children’s paintbrushes will not only depict the world — they can change it.

We look forward to seeing you at the United Nations on December 3!
